Services

Here is a list of services that the Desktop Academy offers...

Student Mentorship

This provides the opportunity of current students of animation in an established fulltime educational program to submit a single piece of their animation work to have it individually critiqued. Students requiring this service will need to provide evidence that they are indeed a fulltime student of animation, enrolled into an accredited school of education. Submission of the student's work will need to be previously uploaded to an account on YouTube, the URL of which will be requested when you are enrolling for this service.

(Note: All work submitted may eventually be displayed on the Desktop Academy website, unless otherwise requested... so responsibility for copyright or any infringement of copyright this may cause remains solely with the participating student and not the Desktop Academy.)

Introductory student mentorship fee: $25

Individual Mentorship

This provides for studio or independent professional animators to submit a single example of their work for critique and mentoring. In this way, practicing professional animators (or serious home-based enthusiasts) can obtain high-level feedback on their work in progress. Submission of the animator's work will need to be previously uploaded to an account on YouTube, the URL of which will be requested when you are enrolling for this service.

(Note: All work submitted may eventually be displayed on the Desktop Academy website, unless otherwise requested... so responsibility for copyright or any infringement of copyright this may cause remains solely with the participating student and not the Desktop Academy.)

Introductory professional mentorship fee: $50.

Certificate of Animated Excellence

Students of the Certificate of Excellence program are required to work through the 10 assignments indicated in Tony White's new book, "How To Make Animated Films" (to be published June, 2009) then submit each one of them for critique and ultimate grading. Program fees include up to three critiques per assignment submitted. (Note: Students may request their work be graded after the first submission if they so choose. However, to increase their overall GPA, they may wish to re-work their assignment until the three critiqued submissions are reached, before grading takes place.) Students in the Certificate program will receive their own private online (Moodle) grading account. They will also have access to other Certificate students through a private forum message board.

Introductory 'Certificate of Excellence' program fee: $1,000.

Note: A non-returnable 50% of this fee is payable up front, with a critique and grading fee for each assignment payable at the point of submission. (I.e. $500 on enrollment and then an additional $50 fee upon submission of each of the 10 assignments prior to critique and grading.) Also, students enrolling in the 'Certificate of Animated Excellence' program are entitled to up to three critiques per assignment, prior to grading.

Enroll for the 'Certificate of Excellence' program: $500 initial payment.

Terms And Conditions

Students enrolling submitting work to the Desktop Academy do so on the understanding that their work may eventually be exhibited on the 'Gallery' section of the website. However, the Desktop Academy accepts no responsibility for any breaches in copyright that may occur when doing so. Therefore the sole responsibility for any material submitted must remain with those submitting the work. If there are any copyright issues related to work submitted, then this must be clarified at the point of submission. This is particularly necessary for professional animators submitting work for review. Work created by students for individual review or as part of the Certificate of Animated Excellence program however will be deemed as supplying non-copyright material, unless otherwise stated. All fees paid to the Desktop Academy are non-returnable, unless the Desktop Academy is unable to fulfill the service as advertised, for one reason or another.
