Welcome!
Welcome to the home of traditional hand-drawn animation. The Desktop Academy of Traditional Animation is dedicated to helping (and hopefully inspiring) young emergent animators to learn the magic of traditional hand-drawn animation for themselves. Established initially to provide feedback and mentoring opportunities to readers of Tony White's comprehensive new coursebook on essential animation techniques, "How To Make Animated Films", the Desktop Academy is also fully committed to bringing out the hidden 'Animaticus Drawersaurus' in you!
What is an Animaticus Drawersaurus? The Animaticus Drawersaurus is a sadly endangered species that is passionately committed to preserving and evolving the fabulous artform of tradtional, hand-drawn (2D) animation.
Why is the Animaticus Drawersaurus 'endangered'? Perhaps by clicking on the link below you'll start to understand why...

Write a Letter to Walt!

As we know only too well, the world of traditional animation has somewhat declined since the loss of its greatest visionary,
WALT DISNEY. So the Desktop Academy now invites anyone who cares enough about preserving the traditional 2D artform to share their thoughts by writing a letter to Walt at our specially dedicated
blogsite. We have absolutely no idea if Walt will ever be able to read your letters, but we certainly know that the rest of the world will! So why not pick up your pen and let Walt know how you feel. They do say that the pen (or in this case, the pencil) is mightier than the sword don't they? We think so... and we strongly suspect that Walt would think so too!
